Eckman Construction of Bedford, NH has completed extensive renovations and a large addition at Mascoma Valley Regional High School in Canaan, NH, which were done in time for students to return to school this fall. The new addition to the school features a 500-seat auditorium and performing arts theater, band room, new media center and a new art room, all which support the school’s mission to foster a creative learning environment. The auditorium and performing arts theater is also a great resource for the community as it will also be used to hold public events and performances. Renovations to the original building, which opened in 1963, included a new, handicap-accessible main entrance, classrooms, a new main office and administrative area, and energy-efficient upgrades throughout the facility.
“We are proud to deliver a facility that supports the vision of the leadership and administration here at Mascoma,” said John Deloia, Vice President, Eckman Construction. “Our team was on site for a year and a half, and Superintendent Andrew, Principal Collins and their staff could not have been more accommodating and supportive. There was a lot of work to complete and with school staff, Marinace Architects and Eckman employees, this was a true team effort that garnered excellent results.”
Construction at the school began in April of 2015, and crews worked continuously until the start of the school year in September of 2016 to finish work for students return. Activity ramped up during both summers as our team and subcontracting firms were on site in full force to complete as much work as they could while students and staff were on break. The administrative office renovations and new main entrance were completed during the summer of 2015, and the summer of 2016 was spent completing the remaining renovations and putting the finishing touches to the improved high school.
Marinace Architects of New Hampton, NH provided architectural services on this project.
