The Town of Plaistow held a ceremonial ground breaking at the Fitzgerald Public Safety Complex on Saturday, October 8th to signify the commencement of construction on the new Plaistow Public Safety Complex. Eckman is serving as Construction Manager on the project that will consist of a 15,500 square-foot addition and extensive renovations to provide more functional space for the Town’s Police and Fire Departments.
“Our team is very excited to get to work in Plaistow and help provide a facility that better serves the requirements of the Town’s Police and Fire personnel,” said John Deloia, Vice President, Eckman Construction. “They deserve a space that is up to current standards. An upgraded and expanded facility will enhance the capabilities of the Plaistow Police and Fire departments, helping them most effectively serve and protect Town residents.”
Town voters approved a bond amount of $8.5 million for the Plaistow Public Safety project in March of 2016. The project will provide new space for the Police Department with an addition that will house a new dispatch center, two sally ports, booking area, evidence storage, holding cells, interview rooms, administrative offices, locker rooms and various support spaces. The area in the existing building that is vacated by the Police Department will be renovated and utilized by the Fire Department.
The existing facility will remain open and operational during construction. Architectural services are being provided by Dore & Whittier Architects of Newburyport, MA. Trident Project Advantage Group of Salem, NH is serving as the Owner’s Project Representative.
