Eckman provided design-build services for the Derryfield School, collaborating with a skilled team, including Cowan Goudreau Architects, Fitzemeyer & Tocci Associates, and TF Moran
This 16,200 square foot project involved the adaptive reuse of the school’s former gymnasium, transforming it into a dynamic hub for STEM education. The new facility boasts an array of cutting-edge learning spaces, including an X-Learning classroom, three bio/chem labs, a robotics lab, a maker space, staff support areas, and a mezzanine level. Additionally, three existing classrooms adjacent to the gymnasium were renovated to create two dedicated physics classrooms.
This project exemplifies Eckman Construction’s expertise with complex occupied educational facilities. By embracing a design-build approach, the project team was able to streamline the design and construction process, ensuring the project was completed on time and within budget while exceeding the client’s expectations. The new Science and Innovation Center provides Derryfield School students with an inspiring and technologically advanced learning environment, fostering a passion for STEM fields and preparing them for success in the 21st century.
