Derry, NH – Derry Celebrate the Grand Opening of it’s new Fire Station

Derry has a brand-new home for safety, service, and community! The Derry Central Fire Station is officially open and ready to serve its community. 29,500 square feet of modern design, state-of-the-art facilities, and firefighter focused safety features replaces the 1970s headquarters with a 100-year building and room to grow for the generations to come.

Eckman had the privilege of serving as the general contractor for this project, working together with the Town of Derry, Wendel Companies, and the Derry Fire Department. From planning to completion, collaboration with the fire crews ensured that the station met the real-world needs of those who protect the community every day.

The opening was more than just a ribbon cutting. Firefighters, town officials, and community members celebrated tradition and service with a ceremonial hose uncoupling, a symbolic nod to Derry’s firefighting history. Families of the department and residents gathered to see the new facility our firefighters get to call their “home” away from home, tour its cutting-edge features, and share in the excitement of a project years in the making.

The new station is designed to support firefighters’ health and safety while improving efficiency, with dedicated spaces for administration, training, and storage, plus hot and cold zones to reduce exposure to harmful substances. It’s not just a building; it’s a place where crews can work safely and respond quickly when the community calls.
